Wrapping with straw at the University of Burgos – 2000m2

Title: Straw-Based ETICS in the Energy Retrofit of the Virgen de las Viñas Complex for University Use – University of Burgos
Funded by: Next Generation EU, under the PIREP Programme

Description:
The project, developed by Meta 2020 arquitectos and Estudio Bher, includes the comprehensive energy retrofit of the two buildings that make up the Virgen de las Viñas Civic Center Complex. The intervention takes a holistic approach, focusing on improving the thermal envelope, implementing solar control strategies, and replacing the building’s HVAC and air quality systems.

The outcome will be a Nearly Zero-Energy Building (nZEB), achieving over 80% energy savings compared to the original building.

In the talk, they will explain the intervention on the Main Building (a former school built in 1957), with 2,160 m² of usable area over three floors. The thermal envelope upgrade consists of an ETICS system using prefabricated straw panels.

The event is finished.
